I am “just a father” who has been placed in the unique experience of being a caregiver for my young son that has very complex medical needs due to a very rare deadly disease. Circumstances forced the issue for myself to leave my job in order to provide a quality of life for my child in our home versus an institution. Ironic isn’t it? My wife and I would sacrifice everything as we did if we were forced to do things over. It was worth it, but now we struggle as the falsely promised resources have never materialized to the extent that those in positions to help us described. We also had some very bad advising through this process by social & case workers who should have been more knowledgeable or sought out the proper answers more vigilantly. Regardless of that, we are together as a family as we should be and those sacrifices and errors are worth having that.
